PREVENTION

Is there a way to prevent me or my dog from getting blasto?

Dogs and their humans love to go outside.  Currently there is no way to vaccinate against Blastomycosis, and keeping your dog in a space suit or always indoors probably won't work very well.  So what can you do?

  • Be aware of the locations and conditions where the spores can exist.  Try to avoid damp, acidic soil and decaying plants, leaves, or rotting wood.

  • Keep a close eye on your pet's health, energy levels, appetite, breathing, and skin.
